2010 World Equestrian Games: Update on the Status of the Games by Featured Speaker John Nicholson, Executive Director of the Kentucky Horse Park

(Lexington, Ky - June 15, 2005) - The June 22nd meeting of Bluegrass Hospitality Association, Inc. (BHA) will focus on the 2010 World Equestrian Games that may be held in Lexington, Ky. The meeting will take place at the Kentucky Horse Park at 11:30a.m.

The World Equestrian Games are held every four years at different locations across the globe. The 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain attracted close to 300,000 spectators, 800 participants from 45 nations and 1000 media representatives. The 2006 Games will be held in Aachen, Germany August 22 to September 3. The World Equestrian Games could be the largest sporting event held in the United State since the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, GA. Featured speaker, John Nicholson, Executive Director of the Kentucky Horse Park, will discuss the growth of the Park, future plans and an in-depth look of the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Bid.

"Hosting the 2010 World Equestrian Games is an opportunity to show off the Bluegrass to the entire world. The Horse Park has put in a great deal of effort to get these games, but it will take the collaboration of the entire state to make them a success," said Mark Jeffrey, BHA President and General Manager of the Griffin Gate Marriot Resort.

The opening speakers are David Lord, Dennis Johnston and Meredith Moody from the Lexington CVB who will discuss highlights of the last fiscal year and plans for the new year.

The event is open to all. The registration fee is $15 for BHA members and $30 for non-members and covers the cost of lunch. Reservations are preferred - please go to the BHA website at www.bluegrasshospitality.org to register.
